Sam the Manny Part 2

So I finally got the manny job I’ve been hoping for. I start Monday. I’ll be working 20 hrs. a week during the summer and then move to full time in mid-August, so I will be keeping the cruise job for the rest of the summer until full-time manny hours kick in. The family is really cool. They have 3 kids. A 17 year old and twin 15 year olds. The 17 year old won’t really need me. One of the 15 year olds will need me to cart him to tennis practice and various other extra curriculars. The other 15 year old has cerebral palsy. He will be my main responsibility as he will require help to bathe, use the restroom, and eat, as well as various other things throughout the day. I got to meet him last week and he’s really cool. Cerebral palsy is a disease that primarily affects the physical body, so he’s pretty much just like any other 15 year old. He has to use a computer to talk for him and I will also help him to program that as well when he wants to change or add stuff to it. Anyway, I’m pumped and I can’t wait for Monday to get here so I can start work.

The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For

Actually, you probably weren’t, but you should’ve been. Brooklynne finally had the chance to go on the cruise ship that I work on. She & our friend Morgan had a blast, ate some great food, & watched some wonderful entertainment. I have to hand it to my coworkers, they really helped to give them the royal treatment. It just so happened that there were 2 all black churches with over 100 people apiece riding that day. They really knew how to get into the show to make it exciting for everyone else. It also just so happened that my darling Brooklynne brought our video camera along. Here is the scene as it unfolded yesterday. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNmlJkAWiF4

American Idol Auditions

Last weekend, Brooklynne & I tried out for AI Season 9 in Boston. We waited for about 5 hours in the rain only to be told that we were good, we just aren’t what they’re looking for this year. At first, I was a little upset, but then I saw some of the talent that they were letting through and it all made sense. I mean how often do you see a chubby dude who can sing dancing queen so beautifully. And with pink fairy wings made out of cardboard hanging on his back nonetheless! Anyway, we had a really fun day, actually, just hanging out together and singing. We went on an adventure for the day and thoroughly enjoyed one another’s company. It isn’t often that we get to spend an entire day together like that, and we took full advantage of the opportunity. Now we just have to bide our time until season 10 auditions. Someone should tell AI that they can’t get rid of me so easily. Just ask Spring Sing.

Craziness!

If you think something neat has happened to you before, you’re wrong. Something neat happened to me today, & it out neats anything that’s ever happened to you. So there! Anyway, it actually happened to Brooklynne & not me, but that’s totally relevant. A blue jay was out on our veranda gate when Brooke came home from work. She went to open the gate expecting that it would fly away, as wild birds tend to do this when humans extend their hands toward them. So then the bird just flew away, & that’s the end of the story. As if! Like I would waste my time writing about that! Anyway, the bird totally didn’t fly away. Brooke was kinda weirded out by it, so she called me to come out & look. Then she decided to see how far this cocky little blue jay would allow things to progress. I watched as she put out her hand & pet the bird. Okay, okay. Pretty cool I guess. Then she put her fingers out to let it perch on her hand. And it did!!! It was soooo cool. It ended up sitting on her shoulder for a little while before we finally decided it wasn’t the best idea to keep it in the house. Here’s the video. Wild Bird!!!

1 Year Anniversary

Today Brooklynne Kelly Peters & I celebrate a year of wedded bliss. It has easily been the greatest year of my life. I made this video as a testament to my amazing wife & the last year of our lives together. Watch it & reflect on how wonderful my wife is & how odd it is that such an outstanding & gorgeous woman would somehow choose to be with a mongrel like me. I love you, my darling Brooklynne.
